It's All About the Basics: 5 Staples for Every Wardrobe and the Accessories to Keep Them Fresh

They say the livin’s easy in summertime and now we’re here to make your summer wardrobe easy too. We caught up with our pal Macha Abdallah to put together 5 must-have outfits to maximize your staple pieces this season so you can spend more time soaking up the sun. 

Look 1: The LBD 

Everyone needs a little black dress! This one is from the local boutique Luna Blu (shop local!). I love how elegant and trendy this style is with the body hugging shape, the one shoulder look, the classy length, and stretch material for comfort. Dress it up for a semi formal or cocktail event with the Luna Blu gold “Sunday” statement earrings. The gold chained Alias Mae strappy heels give that retro anklet look, which I am currently obsessed with. Finish the look with the Keiko ball mesh clutch for a simpler but dressy accessory.

Look 2: The Maxi Dress

This silk-blend dress can be dressed up or down. The high quality material and timeless shape guarantees the ability to rock this for years. It is loose enough to provide the comfort you need for wherever your day takes you. One of my favourite things is that it is already a whole look all by itself! I chose the minimalist strappy flat sandals in the same colour for a monochromatic look, the navy blue Rebecca Minkoff envelope clutch for a different muted colour and the chunky gold plated Oma The Label hoop earring with the gold plated bangle for a bolder accessory to pop against the neutral tones.

Look 3: The Mom Short

This casual outfit is perfect for a mellow outdoor activity with friends and family. The basic black crop top with the comfy high waisted frayed mom jean shorts, matched up with the breathable beige oversized button down. Plus, we have the classic black Tevas, which are making a comeback! They are also great for a stroll on a hot day. I added the stylish and practical Matt & Nat tangerine backpack for a pop of colour. You already know how I love my gold earrings. Why not get an affordable set of 12 hoop earrings to choose from! Finally, I had to add the gold-plated letter pendant necklace with the first letter of your name.

Look 4: The High-Waisted Jean

This is one of my favourite looks for date night or girls night. The white, one shoulder, body hugging crop top with the staple indigo blue, straight leg, high-waisted denim creates a casual yet sexy look. I added the chic and classic black leather belt to dress up the denim. Since the weather starts to cool down in the evening I added the grey oversized jacket to warm up with. We also have the strappy Mocha heels to dress up the outfit with the gold ear cuffs. Lastly, I included the black Cake Tofino shades for those early evening, golden hour moments.

Look 5: The Plain White Tee

You can style a white tee in a million different ways. This time I chose this casual, comfy look with the loose fit white denim. I love the timeless black and white Chuck Taylors and they go with a wide variety of outfits. The emerald green relaxed fit ottoman sweater to tie around your shoulders in case you easily get chilly like myself. I  love a good tote bag for my casual day fits. I chose the neutral beige tote. I completed this look with the chunky gold hoops and 3 piece stacked gold plated rings. I am currently very attracted to chunky gold jewellery to spice up my basics.
